Kristopher Ho. Etching Print ‘The Peace III’, 2023
HK$2,800.00 – HK$4,800.00
I have always struggled to find ways to express my feelings and emotions thoroughly without the use of drawings and murals.. Living in the modern society and dealing with people from different backgrounds makes us over calculate our attitude towards people. Artwork then becomes a solution to show the audience who we truly are.
The general idea behind this print is a continuation of two pieces of artwork I did in the past. They work as a series of work to tell the story of my personal experiences and realization towards my growth as a human being through different media and platforms. It is an honest and unfiltered confession of me as a person and also demonstrates my weaknesses and often helplessness as an artist. Finding peace in both living in the society and living as my own has always been my constant struggle. Life has not been easy, yet it’s full of surprises and love. It’s something that I cherish and feel grateful to be part of. Hence the title of the project – “The Peace Part. 3”. Being a continuation of an illustration (Part 1) I did in 2021 and a mural piece (Part 2) in 2022.
‘Finding peace’ has been a theme I have been working on lately. Making peace with my insecurities and personal weaknesses. Creating something which is both impactful yet peaceful. Capturing that gracefulness, quietness and most important of all, the gentleness of humanity. The one lesson we are all learning everyday, how to become a better person, how to be more gentle to each other.
About etching
Etching is an intaglio printmaking process in which lines or areas are incised using acid into a metal plate in order to hold the ink. Being one of the most complicated printing processes in the world, and the spearhead of printmaking, which changed how the world exchanged information forever.
The artist
Kristopher Ho was born in Hong Kong and raised in Blackpool, UK. He graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, specialised in illustration. Kristopher started his career as an independent artist in 2012 in Hong Kong, focusing on independent and commercial projects. Since 2015, he has been especially active within the street art community and has participated in various street art festivals such as POWWOW, BSAF and HKWALLS.
Combining impactful strokes with fine details, Kristopher Ho’s murals and illustrations are monochromatic and highly intricate. Marker is his main tool for both his murals and illustrations. After participating in SKYANYCOLOUR, an online exhibition curated by ACRONYM in 2020, his work has expanded into the digital realm by merging murals, illustrations and animations to elevate his visual language.
