CHRIS HUEN. Joel, Tess and Balltsz Etching print, 2022
HK$20,000.00
In collaboration with K11 Art Foundation, Wonderwall proudly presents an exclusive online launch Chris Huen Sin Kan’s limited-edition etching prints on 17 November 2023.
Huen is the fifth artist-in-residence participating in the residency program co-presented by the Royal Academy of Arts (RA) and the K11 Art Foundation, a non-profit organization in Hong Kong dedicated to fostering the development of contemporary art. This exhibition serves as the culmination of his month-long residency at the RA Schools in London, where he was fully immersed in the rich tapestry of culture, allowing it to shape and refine his creative approach.
During his time at the RA Schools, Huen, renowned for his captivating paintings, embraced the opportunity to venture beyond his familiar practice and explore the world of traditional printmaking in the historic print studio. This exploration into new artistic territory propelled his journey forward, giving birth to his inaugural collection of etching prints. With exquisite precision, his artwork delicately captures the essence of his loved ones – his son Joel, daughter Tess, and cherished canine companion – who have long been inspirational figures in his artistic expression. Through this exhibition in his hometown of Hong Kong, Huen invites the local community to explore the reimagined artist’s studio where he resided during his residency, offering viewers a unique and immersive glimpse into the realm of traditional printmaking.
